Mooch Before You Buy: An Experiment in Generosity
John Buckman is one of my favorite people. For over a year now I have been a member of and passionately promoted his website called BookMooch. BookMooch is an online book swapping community where you list books you want to give away to gain points to mooch books you want from other members. You earn more points from members who mooch books from you. The only expense is the cost to ship your own mooched books. To date, I have given away almost 80 books on BookMooch and received 62 other books I wanted to read.
Self-Publishers Flourish as Writers Pay the Tab
The New York Times published a very interesting and thorough article yesterday about the growth of the POD industry and how traditional markets are even suffering.
Review 51:Motherless Child by Sarah Weathersby
Opening the cover of Motherless Child – stories from a life is like arriving at Sarah’s home, where she welcomes you with that special brand of southern hospitality, invites you to sit down for a spell and have a nice tall drink of ice tea while she tells you stories from her past. Reading this book brought back memories from my own childhood of sitting in my grandmother’s parlor and having her tell us stories of life from yesteryear, while gently rocking back and forth in her rocking chair. I could almost hear the creak of the floorboards as her chair went back and forth over that well worn track.
Review 35: Red Asphalt by Scott Cherney
At a time when there are more drivers on the road than ever, and with the rising costs of fuel and heavy usage of cell phones behind the wheel, a novel about road rage couldn’t have come at a better time. Although I don’t even own a cell phone, but have definitely spent at least a full paycheck or two this year in gas alone, I definitely suffer from road rage like many others.

Review 32: Misfit McCabe by LK Gardner-Griffie
Well, in Review 30, I asked what happened to good ole books like the ones Judy Blume wrote, and with Misfit McCabe, I got my answer!
Review 16: Real Life Dramas Vol. One by Darren G. Burton
Many many years ago while living at home and in grade school, going with my parents to buy groceries on a Friday evening was a regular ritual. The last thing added to the shopping cart before we checked out was a copy of The National Enquirer. Amongst the celebrity gossip and tabloids, there were always one page stories with black and white sketches about “real life” survival: people being attacked by sharks or bears, being held captive by robbers or murderers, and stories of people being stranded in the harsh desert or cold frigid arctic.
