It’s time to let out your inner child and delight it with a fairy tale. Fairy tales were something that as a child I couldn’t get enough of. A trip into the land of fantasy where there were kings and queens, witches and wizards, beautiful damsels and handsome knights, and where trouble lurked around every corner. Fairy tales were wonderful because good prevailed and evil always lost in the end, so you could be deliciously scared about what was happening, secure in the knowledge that the hero would prevail in the end. Bob the Dragon Slayer brings this storybook format back to us, and this time, the fairy tale is for the adult. Harry E. Gilleland, Jr. brings his unique sense of humor to us in this fairy tale, and it is a tale that will have you chuckling, chortling, and laughing out loud.

Traveling to foreign countries is not a pleasure I’ve ever experienced myself, but I have always enjoyed reading about it. Christopher Isherwood and his writings about many trips to a war torn Germany remain at the top of the list of some of my favorite books. I can now add author Tony Judge to that list. When I began reading Tony’s book, Sirocco Express, I was immediately captivated by the author’s use of description. Here’s the very first line of the book:

In celebration of Independence day, Independent bookstores, and Indie authors, the Lulu Book Review blog is searching for a Lulu book about America. How about a down home slice of apple pie good ole Fourth of July story, or any book that encompasses the independence of our country?

Welcome to July!
Normally, I would have posted this link in the POD Diary section since I came across it while working on marketing for my own book, but it was just too good not to post here on the main page.
Check out this newspage.com link which is a small directory for Independent Bookstores in the U.S. and Canada.

My own golfing experience is lacking. Remember what I said in Review 14? I’m no sports fan! I had an uncle who let me drive the cart when I was ten, and run out and remove the flag for him. I remember games of putt-putt at the lake during holidays.

Greetings all and welcome to May! Before we get rolling with this month’s reviews, I wanted to take some time out to discuss a few topics of the POD industry.
Although my Success tab at the top of this page has been extremely slow (hint…hint), it’s been nice to hear from some of you personally about the success of your Lulu books. When asked for advice, I seem to be saying the same thing over and over again…If you haven’t done so already, buy an ISBN for your book!

If you visit Shirley Cheng’s website, you’ll soon discover she is a very unique individual with an inspirational story that will definitely touch you in some way. Shirley was born in 1983 and diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis before she was even one year old. Due to years of hospitalization in both China and America, Shirley received no formal education until she was eleven years old.
