While assisting my day job’s charity committee with a company cookbook being published through CreateSpace, I discovered that after submitting the files and ordering a proof, and making changes, CreateSpace gave the option to opt out of having to order a second proof copy.

This is a somewhat predictable but enjoyable story about a childhood romance that never really died away. Nick and Katherine met one summer as teenagers while vacationing at the lake. Nick’s mother let Katherine know she was beneath her son when she was invited to their big estate for tea. They had servants for everything and it was all so formal that Katherine felt very out of place.

I dare you not to like Stubbs and Bernadette by Levi Montgomery. Double dog dare you! This book made me late for work on more than once, its that hard to put down. There is something so compelling and sweet about the way that Montgomery describes Bernadette, you just want to shield her from the world. Bernadette in this case is Bernadette Elsbeth McIntyre and the name is bigger than the girl that wears it. She is described as a waif, an elf, a sixteen-year-old in a twelve-year-old’s body and you’ll be able to immediately picture her. There was always someone in everyone’s High School that resembles her. She is the artsy girl, the one that doesn’t dress just right, the one that never quite fit in.

Waiting for Spring was actually queried to us some time last year, and unfortunately we turned it down at that time. I can’t recall the exact reason and can’t speak for the other reviewers. I remember reading the preview and it just didn’t capture my attention like it probably should have at that time. But for me, books are like fine wine: sometimes they need to sit on the shelf for a while and a time will come when you will want to open them up and enjoy the essence that waits inside.

I’ve been following a disccusion over at the CreateSpace Community called “How Does Lightning Source Compare to Lulu and Createspace?” While the information has been very good across the board, I thought a recent post from someone called Penumbra Publishing contained a wealth of information that I’d share here…
