Often, authors have the perfect title for a book before they’ve written a single word of the story. Others never name a novel till the very end. I’m guilty of the first. I’m also guilty of changing a title a hundred times while writing the actual novel. I’ve gone through about eight titles for my current manuscript I’m working on.

Since LK joined the LLBR team, we’ve been compiling a list of common mistakes and errors which tend to grate our nerves while reading books, and also turns us off when we are considering books for possible reviews. Since I only recently started sending out rejection letters, I thought it was important to let authors know common reasons why their book might get rejected for a review outside of just being a theme we aren’t interested in reviewing at this time. While this is NOT a list of set-in-stone guidelines used to determine who gets reviewed and who doesn’t, we hope this list will at least help future authors polish their book for publication.

Despite it just reaching 98 degrees this week here in St. Louis, stores everywhere are going to start thinking about “End of Summer” sales and start stocking the shelves with single subject notebooks and No. 2 Pencils. Students do still use those things, right? But as July comes to an end, and August arrives and school bells ring, it’ll still be a hot one here in Missouri. The weather doesn’t really start cooling down until pumpkins grow faces. So as we transition into the next season, here’s what is in store for The Lulu Book Review.
