Review 221: Born To Be A Dragon by Eisley Jacobs

By LK Gardner-Griffie on July 19, 2011

It’s not often I have the pleasure of reviewing a book prior to release, so I’m especially honored to have the opportunity to review Born To Be A Dragon the day before it launches.

Review 187: Discovering Wounded Justice: Cruel Menace by Belinda D’Alessandro

Review 187: Discovering Wounded Justice: Cruel Menace by Belinda D’Alessandro

By LK Gardner-Griffie on January 30, 2011

Upon graduation from college, the road of life stretches in front of us. We have seemingly unlimited potential and just need to hop on the road and start moving forward. At that point in our lives, we see the possibilities, we have hope fueling our desires, but out of sight are the curves life will throw as well as the pitfalls we hope to avoid.

Review 178: The Jazzy Series by Shelina Ishani

By LK Gardner-Griffie on December 7, 2010

The Jazzy series is about a little girl named Jazzy and the adventures she gets into. These picture books are meant for young children, perhaps those learning to read, and have bright illustrations which help move the story forward.

Review 173: Giggle Grump Gurgle by PJ Cowan

By LK Gardner-Griffie on November 22, 2010

I always enjoy reviewing children’s books as the holidays approach. Books were such a part of my growing up, I don’t remember ever having been without them. Although it has been argued that my mom taught me to read in self-defense, I don’t ever remember learning how to read, I just did.

Review 170: Megan’s Way by Melissa Foster

By LK Gardner-Griffie on November 8, 2010

Cancer. The very word can act like the disease itself and worm its way through our bodies, eating at us from the inside out. It is a word which strikes fear in our hearts to hear it pronounced as a diagnosis.

Review 164: The Haunting on Devil’s Den Road by Karen Chilton

By LK Gardner-Griffie on September 23, 2010

I happened to run across this book last year at the Orange County Kids Book Festival. As a girl, I loved ghost stories, and the premise for the book intrigued me, and I knew I had to give it a read.

Celebrate with Linda Welch

Celebrate with Linda Welch

By LK Gardner-Griffie on August 5, 2010

It is nice to be able to celebrate the good news of a friend, and I am very happy to say that we have reason to celebrate. The landscape of publishing is changing, in particular with the advent of the ebook, and self-publishing is increasingly becoming a viable option, and one which is beginning to grow legs as a door opener for other opportunities, as Boyd Morrison proved with his book The Ark, as was discussed in previous post Who Needs a Publisher Anyway?

Review 158: Hit List by Darcia Helle

By LK Gardner-Griffie on July 29, 2010

What would you do if you came to visit your mother one day and found her huddled in the closet, rocking back and forth, clutching a baby blanket tightly in her hand? And how does the confused and fearful woman connect to a mafia like-gang, drugs, a baby ring, sleezy cops, and an unknown assasin?

Review 149: Eye of the Witch by Dana Donovan

A phone rings in the middle of the night, and former police detective Tony Marcella know who will be on the other end. His friend and partner for thirty years on the force, Carlos Rodriguez, is calling Tony because he has a case, that isn’t a case and needs his former partner’s help.

Review 145: Sewing a Friendship by Natalie Tinti

By LK Gardner-Griffie on April 29, 2010

This past weekend I had the pleasure of participating in the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books held at UCLA. This particular event is awe inspiring as an author to see the number of people all excited about books.
