Two millennia after three clans and their leaders go through Eon’s Door to find sanctuary in the world of Erla, a prophecy left to them by the ancients that created the portal is coming true. Shorran, sage to the clans, has stolen the portal’s key and is using the “awesome” power that separated the worlds to tear apart the very soul of Nature. The key must be taken back and Eon’s Door closed before it’s too late.

It’s not often I have the pleasure of reviewing a book prior to release, so I’m especially honored to have the opportunity to review Born To Be A Dragon the day before it launches.

As I began reading 665, I immediately conjured up Sci Fi/Fantasy movies I’d seen like Dark City or the Matrix. I’m was never well read in dark fantasy or comics (unless you count Archie), but Duvall’s writing is so vivid and imaginative that my brain was working over time to envision Jack’s world.

Slave by V.S. Williams is probably not a book I would have picked on my own, even at its attractive price of 99 cents on the Kindle. In fact, I could not even find it in a random search on Amazon just by its title which is unfortunate. (You can find it using the title and author or the ASIN#.) After a quick read of the synopsis, some may dismiss this as religious fiction, but after reading it I wouldn’t throw it into that category at all.

Collected stories, like songs on LPs, often share a theme or tone related to its title. In that sense, the title of Wade Alan Steele’s collection, A Sudden Dominance of Shadows, correlates to the opaqueness of many of its stories that delve into the murky psyches of its protagonists. Otherwise, though, the disparate styles and quality of the stories makes this book more like a collection of B-Sides.
