While clutching the handgun inside the pocket of his grey overcoat, it began to dawn upon Harry there would be no response to the knocks he had made on the front door of the flat. He began to wonder how he would face Frederick without the money. Harry turned from the door and made his way to the top of the stairs. From where he stood, the second floor was beyond his view. He glanced down at his shoes that now glistened in the dim light of the corridor before taking the first step down the stairs.
Julie – Great! Absolutely loved the opening which draws in the reader from the first. Gripping!

Shane Windham’s 1st poetry collection. Completed in 1998 and containing 108 poems. This one’s a favorite among his teenage readers. A rare glimpse into the wonder and tragedy of a young American poet drowning in an ocean of words. WHAT READERS ARE SAYING: “A sad, yet beautiful collection of words, which show a great understanding of the human condition. I particularly liked ‘What I Never Stop Missing’ and ‘The Virgo Misinterpretations’ because of the undercurrent of poignant humour. I found there to be a deep rooted need within this poetry that winds its way throughout. Soulful.”

Not every drifter is a homeless bum or hobo. A lot of men drift about the country working in construction or temporary jobs. Many have post traumatic stress syndrome and don’t find peace in the American society. At an end of summer reunion a small group of these men find themselves accidentally in the middle of the U.S./Mexican border problems. To get out of a very bad situation they have to use the skills they learned in the military. It is a work of fiction without names, but situations like this do happen all too often.
Julie - Great title. Good, down to earth style and straight into the action. A powerful message about and important subject. Sad but true.
