What would you do if you came to visit your mother one day and found her huddled in the closet, rocking back and forth, clutching a baby blanket tightly in her hand? And how does the confused and fearful woman connect to a mafia like-gang, drugs, a baby ring, sleezy cops, and an unknown assasin?

As the market and competition starts to catch up with Amazon.com’s Kindle, it’s no surprise to see that they expanded their E-book availability beyond the Kindle device and also lowered the cost of the devices themselves .

Give Mark Zero Some…
…and by some, I mean a round of applause for another superb book. Give the Drummer Some is a semi-salute to music in St. Louis, often upstaged by its neighboring musical towns further down the Mississippi.

Here’s an interesting email that landed in some Lulu’ers box last night. If you were having trouble finding your book in Lulu’s Search Option, apparently they were under attack by Gremlins but have now got it all sorted out. I have no idea what the 25% off at the top means, when they later say they’ll be sending you a 15% off special in a few days. Oh, and is it just me or does Lulu suggest you forward the special email to a bunch of people who drink. Why not nurse maids, dog groomers, and trash collectors? Just saying.

July’s Book Synthesis is brought to you by The Paper Rats. Authors Kristen Tsetsi (author of Homefront and Carol’s Aquarium) and R.J. Keller (author of Waiting For Spring) like to make videos when they should be writing. Their show is called “Inside The Writers’ Studio.” They are Paper Rats. This month they discuss why all books should begin with a prologue.

Yesterday, I reviewed Judith Schwartz’s book The Therapist’s New Clothes, which is printed and published using the first Espresso Book Machine in the country located at the Northshire Bookstore in Vermont. Today, Judith sits down with LLBR to talk about the EBM, her book, and self-publishing:

I’d been following the journey of Judith Schwartz’s book for several months now, mainly because she used the Espresso Book Machine to publish it. The first Espresso Book Machine in the U.S. belongs to the Northshire Bookstore in Vermont where copies of Judith’s book can be born in a matter of minutes. The word therapist in the title pretty much kept me away from reading it, but after Mrs. Schwartz’s approached me with her book, I decided to give it a try. And I’m glad I did.

Yesterday, I reviewed Nick Nolan’s Double Bound, recently re-released with AmazonEncore after having first been published with BookSurge. I had the pleasure recently of interviewing Nick and learning about his experience with AmazonEncore.

Originally published with BookSurge in 2008, Nick Nolan’s Double Bound was just republished as part of the AmazonEncore program. AE is where Amazon.com recognizes books that may have been overlooked but may have great potential, and then partner with the authors to re-release them and help market them better to readers. It obviously is working, or at least for Nick Nolan, because I would probably not have read his book otherwise. Double Bound is a sequel to his first book, Strings Attached, which was republished with AmazonEncore earlier this year.
