And by halfway mark, I really mean for the year, not for your book. In last month’s post, friend and fellow reviewer Cheryl Anne Gardner wrote about the first page of your book. Prior to that, I’ve dissected each page of the front matter of your book. We’ll push forward in June with other topics like page numbers, justification, headers, and all that fun stuff. But for now, as we approach Memorial Day, let’s rest a moment.

In March 2009, I began writing an article for LLBR about how to market your book on Amazon. The result of that article turned into a longer project that I decided to publish as a small book. Taking advantage of Lulu’s free ISBN at the time, I released it as a 93 page guide that included my POD Diary which I wrote throughout the first year of marketing my book, Stealing Wishes.

Emily Veinglory, the founder of PodPeep, has started a new Self Publishing Forum. Like many, myself included, Emily grew tired of the forums over at Lulu and a few other places, so she created her own. Check it out! It’s free and already has several topics growing. Emily is also looking for moderators and co-admins.

The subtitle of Marc Zirogiannis’s book is A Guide to Life Outside the Asylum. I admit it was this subtitle that immediately caught my interest. After reading the preview, I decided to to commit to reading the full book. The manuscript is packed into only 78 pages, which is a bit unfortunate because there is a lot of good material here which I believe the author could build upon in order to give us a more full bodied story.

Back right around the time when Amazon.com first bought CreateSpace, and Kindles were still on the drawing board, Amazon came up with a brilliant idea called Amazon Shorts. This program gave authors a chance to upload short stories and sell them for .49 cents each, and gave authors like me the chance to rake [...]

I was first introduced to Mark Zero when I read Blood and Chocolate, a book I found on Amazon by accident, but fell in love with and have suggested it to others ever since. I immediately wanted to read more from him and chose The Scarlet Dove next.

The World Beyond the Door by Margaret and Steven Larson Another Winner! Fabulous description from the first, it really drew me forward. I could just imagine that house, the path, the oak and of course the mystery, the secrets…the magic. ____________________________________________________________________________ Spiders of Sago by Wendy Wamsley Powerful! Wonderful phrases, such as, ‘gun shy shivers’ [...]

Joleene Naylor queried us with her book, Shades of Gray, at the perfect time. I was in the middle of reading Charlaine Harris’s True Blood series and eager to read anything else vampire that didn’t have a poster, keychain, tee shirt, action figure, Xbox game, pendant, change purse, or lunch box to accompany it. Joleene’s blurb begins: Dark, stunning and mysterious, Shades of Gray breaks through the barriers of modern writing and revitalizes the vampire genre for a new generation. This was enough for me, so I agreed to read it.
