Have any other authors out there received an email from Amazon saying your new Author Central page is ready? I received mine earlier this week. I immediately signed in to take a look. I added a picture, a biography, and also updated my bibliography to include the books that LuluPress has listed on Amazon now including an early chapbook of my poetry I put together in 2006 as a gift for my Mom and Dad.
I am glad to see the improvements Amazon has made for authors. The page is much more appealing with a larger picture and broader space for your biography. However, I noticed there is no link to the page on any of my books’ product pages. My Amazon Connect blog has also been removed from those pages. So, I’m not really sure how readers (or even authors for that matter) are supposed to find these pages on Amazon. I know the program is still in beta format, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that more improvements will be made and that the page will at least show on my product’s pages or be linked there.
The set up page is much more basic and easy to navigate than the Amazon Connect pages were. There are 4 tabs: Home – where you can learn more and submit feedback, Profile – where you can type your biography and upload or change your photo, Books – where you can add all of your books and products, and Blog – where you can enter blog posts or add an RSS feed from an outside blog.
Overall, it’s definitely an improvement as far as set-up and layout goes. And as long as the page eventually shows up on the books’ product pages, I think it can be a very useful marketing tool for authors.
Haven’t received your email? You can sign up here if you are an author.

I received my email, but haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. Thanks for jumping in there (as ususal) and taking a look at what they’re doing now.
Yes, I got my email and updated my information to it. Do you mind if I link your website to the self-publishing website I’ll be publishing soon? I’m currently gathering websites that I think are useful and think your CreateSpace information and this Amazon Central post will be excellent “How To” additions for anyone wanting a guide to it. I’d link your site to mine, so I won’t be taking credit for your hard work.
