As a grandfather to five grandchildren, aged seven to ten, I was interested to learn what this book has to offer in the way of advice on how to be a grandparent. The answer is it has much to offer. The two authors offer great insight with ideas and suggestions that should be beneficial to any grandparent, but especially to the new grandparent.

John Buckman is one of my favorite people. For over a year now I have been a member of and passionately promoted his website called BookMooch. BookMooch is an online book swapping community where you list books you want to give away to gain points to mooch books you want from other members. You earn more points from members who mooch books from you. The only expense is the cost to ship your own mooched books. To date, I have given away almost 80 books on BookMooch and received 62 other books I wanted to read.

I love Carolyn Howard-Johnson’s Frugal Book Series. The first two (The Frugal Book Editor and The Frugal Book Promoter) are must-haves for any self-published author! Her latest is geared toward retailers, primarily independent business owners, but I jumped at the chance to review it only because I knew I’d find something I could use toward my own book marketing and indeed I did.

The Publetariat Vault brings literary works already proven in the commercial marketplace to the direct
attention of acquisitions pros, thereby reducing their risk. For authors, this means no query, no agent, no
“connections” are needed.

I admire historical fiction that draws from real facts from our history books and presents new theories on events or fills in the gaps history skipped over. S. G. Cardin has written such a book called Across the Fickle Winds of History. Now, with a title and book cover like that, I knew I wanted to read it.

To the uninitiated, writing books for children is easy. You put a few words on the page and add some pictures. How hard can that be?

In the year 2000, I worked as an assistant manager at Bookstar in Memphis. Once a month, we scanned every book in the entire store to make sure it was shelved properly and to pull returns which were shipped back to publishers for credit. Returns are books that the home office inventory control department deem as being overstocked or slow sellers. That’s right. The life of a book on your local B&N shelf is regulated like stale pastries being rotated in a bakery. Hardcover books that are about to be released in paperback might also come up as having to be returned, which is how I came upon one book in particular one slow evening. It was a lone hardcover copy of Matthew Stadler’s Allan Stein.

I am so excited because this is the first book review that I get to write. Finally a chance to put my paw to something worthwhile. This opportunity came about because a German Shepherd, Celina Star published a book called, How To Become a Mail Carrier Puppy and Mama said that I would have the opportunity to do the review, since both the author and I are German canines. I have been taking careful notes along the way as I watch my Mama read and review other books, and I know that I’m ready for this challenge.
