The POD Diary – November 11th & 12th, 2008

November 11th:  Well, I’m still waiting on payment from Amazon.  I received a phone call message from them last week asking me to update my bank account information.  I checked it online at it wasn’t wrong, but I entered it again anyway and have now been emailing them every day and patiently waiting for the direct deposit of my first payment from Kindle sales from May to August.  In other news, I received a small royalty payment direct from Lulu for hard copies sold through Amazon and Ebook sales direct through Lulu.

Total money invested on this project to date (after book sales only): $588.04

Total money invested on this project after all sales and services: $227.12

And that’s about it for now.  The deadline for entry in the 2009 Lambda awards is December 1st.  My entry was shipped a long time ago.  Now I just have to wait till next spring when they announce the nominees.  Wish me luck!

November 12th: I called Amazon back today to check on that deposit.  They are saying it was transmitted today on their end so it should hit my bank account in about two days.  I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again, for Kindle sales of your Ebook on Amazon, you don’t receive payment until after 60 days from the month’s end.  And you don’t receive payment until your commission totals at least $10.00.  In May, my sales totaled $2.28 (I launched the Kindle Ebook version a month before the hard copy was available).  June sales were zero.  July was $5.26.  Finally, in August I reached $81.39.  60 days later puts us at the end of October and I’m finally getting paid for all of these months combined.

The good news is that September was a great month ($83.13), so I will receive another payment at the end of November for that.  October was pretty much the same and I’ve already passed the $10.00 mark this month.  Once you get passed that initial 60 day waiting period and make at least $10.00 each month, you can really look forward to getting paid every month after that!  I’ll update my expense totals once this first payment hits my bank account.
